A commercial agreement recently occured between Meetic and Match.

An official release published on Boursorama talks about the “Conclusion of an agreement on the acquisition of MATCH.COM EUROPE”.

The conclusion of this agreement would enable MEETIC to expand its presence in European markets. At the end of December 2008, Match had a total of approximately 270 000 subscribers in Europe.

In this document, Marc Simoncini, CEO of Meetic, declares : « We have today signed a historic agreement for the acquisition of European operations at Match.com. »

But can we really talk about an acquisition ?

Not really …

The agreement is rather corresponding to an exchange of shares.

Although Meetic acquires all European activities of the american company,  Match will own 27% of Meetic’s stakes after the agreement. This opens the possibility for Match to buy Meetic in the next years.

Is Simoncini thinking about selling Meetic ?

According some bloggers yes (Vincent writing on 01 Amour) !

Match is owned by IAC, a huge group holding some ohter sites such as Ask.com, Bloglines, Excite.com or Down to Earth … And IAC is a clear possible byer …

Easyflirt recently redesigned its registration page for affiliates.

The pages now display more photos.

A a great geolocalised tool – displaying profiles of singles registered in your area – was also added on the rightside of the screen.

The new version looks better and should therefore increase convertion rates for the webmasters registered to Easyflirt’s affiliation program.

The famous French dating site Meetic recently bought the domain Easy.fr. According to “Le Journal du Net”, it seems that Marc Simoncini (founder of the site Meetic) spent several hundred thousand euros for the name.

Of course this recent acquisition is not a good new for Easyflirt, the direct competitor of Meetic in Europe (both Meetic and Easyflirt are companies based in France).

The domain Easy.fr should not be confused with Easyflirt.fr.

The domain was owned by Say.fr, another actor on the dating french market (he former owner of Easy.fr will continue to work on a new project / site : Aimer.com).

And Easyflirt and Say already had to settle their brand disputes in court in October.

Will we assist to a new legal battle between Easyflirt and Meetic in the coming weeks ? …
